Luz que atraviesa el ombligo

Hoy he decidido
volver a renacer:

Naceré sin soberbia,
con la esperanza
de que el sol
no será el único
que deslumbre
mi presencia.

Emergeré de lo opaco
para atestiguar
como la sabiduría
de mi gente nativa
se propaga en todo
llano y montaña,
por todo mar y cielo.

Brotaré como un clavel
para contemplar
la conciencia de mi
gente que corre libre
por sus rios,
agarrando vuelo
con el viento,
derrumbando
toda clase de
frontera.

Y aunque aquí
me tienes en
lo oscuro,
sometiéndome
a tus leyes
arbitrarias,

Soy yo,
la que decide
que volveré
a renacer.

Light That Transcends the Navel

Today I have decided
To return to rebirth:

I will be reborn
Without disdain,
With the hope
That the sun
Will not be the
Only light to
Illuminate my being.

I will emerge from
The opaque
To testify how
The wisdom of
My native people
Propagates in all
The mountains and plains,
In all the seas and skies.

I will bud like a carnation,
To contemplate
How the conscience
Of my people runs free
Amidst their rivers,
Grabbing flight
With the wind,
Eradicating
All borders.

And although you
Still have me
In the shadows,
Subdued by
Your arbitrary law,

It is I
Who has decided
To return
To rebirth.
